After many years in the community banking business, Northbrook Bank & Trust President Dave Masters will retire at the end of 2016.

Mr. Masters was initially hired by Wintrust in 2000 to help launch Northbrook Bank & Trust. As co-founder, along with Rich Rushkewicz, he was able to help grow the bank from 11 employees and one temporary office to $1.9 billion in total assets and eight locations. Mr. Masters credits the bank’s success to Wintrust’s philosophy of true community banking.

“Being a community bank means getting involved and giving back,” said Mr. Masters. “So, we got to know our area, we became active members and made this our home. That’s why we’ve grown so much.”

Mr. Masters has always been active outside of the bank, currently serving as the director of the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce. In the past, he was president of the Northbrook Rotary and director of the North Shore Senior Citizen Center. He plans to continue his community involvement well into retirement.

“We wish Dave all the best for a happy, healthy retirement,” said Mr. Rushkewicz. “We thank him for his many significant contributions and sacrifices through the years to make Northbrook Bank & Trust what it is today.”
